WebLink - Setup - Date/Time

There are variety of settings to handle Date/Time on the WebLink. Below, each of the applicable settings are described. In an ideal situation, the WebLink will be configured to use a local Time Server. See the Time Server settings below. With a Timer Server properly configured, both Current Time and the Time Zone will automatically be set and synchronized. Furthermore, the Latitude and Longitude settings below will also be updated from WinControl location information automatically when the Transfer New Data feature is used (assuming location information has been set in WinControl System properties). For more details on individual WebLink date/time settings, please see topics below.

The Current Time and Date information is automatically updated when the Time Server option below is used. However, if no Time Server is avialable, you should manually set the date and time on the WebLink using the Current Time options, then click Update.

Setup - Date/Time Tab - Time Zone

  • The Time Zone is used to specify the local time zone where the WebLink is located. This is important for the optional Scheduler, as well as for activity log and other display functions. Note that setting the time zone is done automatically when the Time Server option below is used.

  • Use the Latitude / Longitude option to configured the local coordinates for the WebLink. These settings are important to the optional Scheduler, which will use these settings to calculate astronomical Sunrise and Sunset times. Note that these settings are AUTOMATICALLY filled in using information provided by WinControl. Therefore, it is normallly NOT REQUIRED to set these values on the WebLink, but rather set in WinControl prior to using the "Transfer New Data" function. QUESTION: MUST WE REBOOT AS INDICATED??

Setup - Date/Time Tab - Time Server

  • Set Time Server allows a time server to be specified that will automatically be used to keep the clock on the WebLink synchronized. Because the WebLink logs certain activity, and can be used as a Scheduler (option), it is important that the time and date be accurate on the device. Consult your local IT representative to determine the DNS (name) of your local time server if available. Fill that information in in the Time Server field and click "Set Server". Sometimes, your local gateway may be configured as a Time Server. By clicking "Use Gateway" the Weblink will copy the address of the gateway into the Timer Server field. Next, click "Set Server", which will actually test that the named device is a Time Server. If the device does not respond as a Time Server, the name will be cleared out. RICHARD: PLEASE VERIFY THIS IS CORRECT. ALSO, VERIFY WHEN THE TIMER SERVER IS USED TO UPDATE TIME (NOT IMMEDIATELY ON FIELD TECH SERVER). ,name of the Gatewaybe configured to use the gateway as the Time Server.

    [Note]Note

Use Gateway will automatically fill in the time server using the gateway information from the IP configuration. You may also type in the name or the ip address of the timer server. If the timer server is NOT VALID or does not respond properly as a Time Server, the field change will not be accepted.
