WebLink - Setup - Remote Access

Setup - Remote Access Tab - Remote Modem Login

  • The Remote Modem Login settings include Modem Configuration shown in Figure 2.14, “Setup - Remote Access Tab - Remote Modem Login”. The Modem Configuration option is typically only used if the modem installed in the WebLink does not follow standard modem setup codes. Modems shipped with the WebLink are automatically configured properly for remote access, so it should not be necessary to change these settings. The initialization string is sent to reset the modem to factory defaults, and the "Answer on Ring" value is used to determine after which ring the modem will be answered. Click Update after making any changes.

  • In either case, Dial Up access is password protected. The password is determined by ??TBD??.

Setup - Remote Access Tab - Customer Service Remote Maintenance

  • The Watt Stopper Customer Service Remote Maintenance section is used to indicate whether a user can log on to any services beyond the WebLink device. As shown in Figure 2.15, “Setup - Remote Access Tab - Customer Service Remote Maintenance”, this is simply and Enable or Disable option. When Enabled, the status will display as "Running". When Running, this means that if the modem is Enabled above, then further services will be enabled that allow remote maintenance to be performed by an incoming caller. The default is Disabled, which means a remote user can only access web services on the WebLink device. MORE INFO NEEDED: WHAT IS A WEB SERVICE VS REMOTE MAINTENANCE. HOW IS IT USED AND BY WHOM
